Y-Team Assessments
Assessments will be held on September 9th at 5:30 PM to help us place each athlete on the team that's the right fit, with programs officially starting September 16th.
Assessment:
Placement on the Development / Competitive Team will depend on each climber's motivation, background, abilities, and individual goals.
If your athlete can't make assessment day or is interested in joining mid-season, please reach out to Murnie at murnie@climbyoungstown.com to set up an individual tryout.
What's included in the climbing assessment:
Evaluation of basic climbing techniques

We also offer a scholarship opportunity for families for whom cost is a barrier, which can include helping to coordinate rides or snacks for competitions or events. If this pricing doesn't fit your family's budget, please reach out to Josh Boyle at josh@climbyoungstown.com - we are happy to work with you to make sure families can continue climbing together.
USA Climbing Competitions
As part of the Y-Team, climbers gain access to Region 62 USA Climbing competitions. This provides an excellent opportunity for those interested in competitive climbing to test their skills against peers from across the region. Our coaches will provide guidance on:
USA Climbing membership registration
Competition schedules and registration processes
Training plans tailored for competition preparation
Competition strategies and mental preparation
Participation in USA Climbing competitions is optional and can be discussed with coaches based on individual goals and readiness.
